Silk Flower Arrangements
It is easy to be fooled by silk flower arrangements because the high-end ones are extremely realistic. Artificial flowers can be made from many different materials, including polyester blends, rayon, and cotton. But it is the artificial flowers made from silk that look the most realistic. So realistic that you need to touch them to figure out if they’re fake—and even then the texture of the silk might be shockingly similar to the texture of a rose petal. There are many different reasons for silk to appear more genuine than other materials.
First, silk does not wrinkle. Second, silk can have the sort of deep and vibrant color you’d expect from real flowers without looking fake. Third, people who make silk flower arrangements know they are working with high-end material that will be used by people precisely because they want something that looks completely genuine. As a result, arrangements are meant to look natural. They might be augmented with real feathers or dried berries, because they do not look plastic. If anything in the arrangement looks plastic or fake, it’ll draw the eye right to it and immediately let the observer know that the arrangement is not real.
Silk flower arrangements may not always be completely made out of silk flowers. Often, real flowers might be used as well. For example, real baby breath is popular in some artificial arrangements. Like the feathers and the berries, it increases the sense that it is organic. These sorts of arrangements are perfect for home decoration, for office décor, for churches, and even as gifts.
