Floral
Floral is another word for flower. It is most often used in conjunction with the word fauna, to differentiate between plants and animals. It is also an adjective that describes different nouns. For example, floral wallpaper, floral material, floral food, etc, etc. The adjective is used to elicit a variety of different understandings. It might be used to describe how something looks, how something feels, how something smells, and how something tastes. The word can also be used to be describe items related flowers, like bouquets, centerpieces, displays, and the like. It also describes items that can be used in bouquets, displaces, crafts, and other similar enterprises. So it is a very broad term with many definitions. Almost an umbrella terms—it conveys and covers a great deal of information.
It is also a term used in art. As a noun, floral means any portrait, painting, or picture that predominately focuses on flowers. There are many famous artists who painted floral images, and there are many famous examples of those paintings. They do not necessarily have to focus on roses or lilies or daffodils. Paintings that have fruit, blossoms, and seeds are also designated as floral. The interesting thing is what flowers can mean in a painting, depending on who painted it, when they painted it, and other contextual clues. In some, a flower might signify death. In others, a flower might signify rebirth, life, or love. And yet, in the Impressionists paintings, flowers did not signify anything. Rather, the approach and process of painting was the most critical part.
