Care of Roses
Roses, like any living thing, need to be cared for properly. It is not at all difficult to cultivate roses and keep them blooming for a long time, but you do need to treat your roses properly. Proper hygiene is absolutely critical to keep your roses disease free. Roses without disease will bloom longer and stronger. To keep your roses healthy and happy, you need to focus on proper fertilizing, grooming, and watering.
Roses, like all plants, need to eat. Unlike other flowers, however, roses require a great deal more nutrients. They take a huge amount of nutrients from the soil, and some of those nutrients can be easily lost before the roses have a chance to take what they need. That is why it is so critical to provide the appropriate amount of fertilizer. Roses need to be fed lightly and often. In order to bloom and maintain their beauty, they can’t go hungry, so to speak. You should start putting down fertilizer early, before the roses bloom, and continue to feed until about a month before the first freeze.
Roses do not need to be watered as often as they need to be fed. Roses have a very deep root system. That means they need to be watered deeply, and they require approximately an inch of water per week. If you have set up your rose garden properly, then it will be easier to provide the water and gauge the amount. Finally, the proper care of roses requires regular grooming. If you remove faded or dying flowers, you increase the quality of the appearance of the plant, as well as prevent the possibility of fruit.
